"Adding inorganic nitrate to our diet through a daily glass of beetroot juice could assist to reduce harmful inflammation and improve nitric oxide levels." As a result, it could help to avoid heart attacks.
Beetroot is linked to a variety of health advantages, including
lower blood pressure and improved digestive health. A daily glass of beetroot
may now be effective in lowering dangerous inflammation in adults with coronary
heart disease, according to new research.
According to Medical News Today, coronary artery
disease (CAD) or coronary heart disease develops when the coronary arteries
become too thin or cholesterol blockages form in the wall. Plaques formed as a
result of cholesterol build-up can induce inflammation in the blood vessel
walls.
Dr. Asad Shabbir, a clinical research fellow at Queen
Mary University of London, who led the study, noted that inflammation is
necessary to defend the body from injury and infection. "However,
continuous inflammation can increase the furring of the arteries in persons
with coronary heart disease, worsening their condition and raising their heart
attack risk.”
"A daily glass of beetroot juice
could be one way of integrating inorganic nitrate into our diet to help decrease
detrimental inflammation."
The study, which was funded by the British Heart
Foundation (BHF) and presented at the British Cardiovascular Society, looked at
whether drinking a daily beetroot juice high in inorganic nitrate would boost
nitric oxide levels and alter inflammation.
The researchers looked at 114 healthy participants for
the same reason. A typhoid vaccine was given to 78 of them to temporarily raise
inflammation in their blood vessels, and a cream was administered to 36 of them
to develop a small blister on their skin and cause localized inflammation. They
were then instructed to drink 140ml of beet juice every morning for seven days.
Half of the volunteers drank nitrate-rich juice, whereas the other half drank
juice with the nitrate removed.
Higher quantities of nitric oxide were discovered in
the blood, urine, and saliva of patients who received the typhoid vaccine and
drank the nitrate-rich juice.
The researchers said that the "Nitric oxide
has essential anti-inflammatory benefits”. "However, because the enzyme
that generates nitric oxide is less active in persons with cardiac and
circulation problems, nitric oxide levels are lower. Inflammation is necessary
for the body to protect itself from damage and illness. Persistent
inflammation, on the other hand, can increase the furring of the arteries in
persons with coronary heart disease, worsening their health and raising their
risk of a heart attack”.
According to researches, the high nitrate in beetroot
appears to restore the function of the endothelium, the cells that line the
inside of all blood vessels. "The endothelium is essential for regular
blood artery function, but it is lost during inflammation."
"Adding inorganic nitrate to our diet through
a daily glass of beetroot juice could help to halt detrimental inflammation and
boost nitric oxide levels, As a result, it may aid in the prevention of heart
attacks."
Because of the numerous health benefits of beetroot
juice, the expert recommended drinking it on a daily basis. "A daily intake
of 70-140 mL beetroot juice or 7/8 cup cooked beetroot is recommended,"
according to researchers.
According to researchers, beet juice has a
number of other health benefits.
1. Helps To Reduce Blood Pressure:
Nitrate, a chemical found in beet juice that converts
to nitric oxide in the blood and helps widen and relax blood vessels, lowers
blood pressure.
2. Improves Workout Endurance:
Beet juice promotes physical performance by increasing plasma nitrate levels.
3. Improve Muscle Power:
Help persons with heart failure improve their muscle
power.
4. Decrease The Dementia:
progression: Nitrates may enhance older people's cerebral blood flow and hence slow cognitive deterioration.
5. Assists You In Maintaining A Healthy
Weight:
Beet root juice has no fat and low in calories.
6. Helps To Prevent From Cancer:
Betalains, which are water-soluble antioxidants, give
beets their deep colour and may help to prevent cancer.
7. A Rich Source Of Other Minerals And Potassium:
Beets roots are high in potassium and other minerals,
which aid in the healthy functioning of nerves and muscles.
8. Helps Your Liver:
The antioxidant betaine may assist to prevent or
reduce fatty liver deposits. Betaine may also aid in the detoxification of your
liver.
